our story

Adams Farms, formerly known as Adams Brothers Coldstream (A.B.C Sprouts) moved it’s operation from nearby Bayswater, to Coldstream in 1960.  It was a joint venture between the four Adams brothers, Charlie, Arthur, David and Ray.   At first they farmed cabbages, but soon discovered that in order to have enough work for their employees they needed to try something else.   Being in the same family as cabbage, brussels sprouts became the chosen vegetable to fill the void.

Brussels sprouts became the crop of choice at the end of the 1970s, and now sees up to 120 acres grown each year.  The crop is rotated on the 750-acreage located in the heart of the Yarra Valley.  The four brothers built their legacy and made their mark on the Yarra Valley region which is now largely dominated by the wine industry.

The reins of the family business has since been lift to Arthur’s son, Bruce, who grew up on the property along with his 3 siblings (Pam, Ruth and Peter). Bruce has been at the helm of the farm since the passing of his father in 2013, the last of the brothers (Ray) passed away in 2016.  Bruce continues the passion for the humble brussels sprout, and has passed this on to his two sons, Daniel and Jeremy.  Together with 5 other full time employees, and a team of seasonal workers they continue to produce and supply Australia with quality sprouts.

Here at Adams Farms we are big supporters of the local community, providing ongoing sponsorship to local sports clubs, as well as weekly vegetable donations to a local op shop for their community food bank.  We also offer regular excursion opportunities to the local schools and community groups to educate about the production of brussels sprouts.

We are very passionate about our produce and proud to be leading suppliers of brussels sprouts Australia wide.
